Who should apply? Project team members with expertise in risk management If you answer yes to more than one of the questions below a specific certification, PMI recommends that you pursue PMI-RMP® certification. Assess and identify project risks, along with making plans to mitigate threats and capitalise on opportunities

  1. Can you demonstrate increased knowledge and skill in the specialised area of project risk management?
  2. Are you responsible for assessing and identifying project risks?
  3. Are you responsible for preparing mitigation plans and capitalising on opportunities?

Certification Criteria

To apply for the PMI-RMP, you need to have either:
  • A secondary degree (high school diploma, associate’s degree, or the global equivalent)
  • At least 4,500 hours of project risk management experience
  • 40 hours of project risk management education

OR 

  • A four-year degree (bachelor’s degree or the global equivalent)
  • At least 3,000 hours of project risk management experience
  • 30 hours of project risk management education
