OVERVIEW

In this comprehensive course, you will get a solid understanding of project management. You will be introduced to the project management life cycle and key project management concepts of constraints, stakeholders, scope, risk, and communication. You will learn the foundation, tools and techniques to manage each phase of project life cycle, how to initiate, plan and execute project that meets project objectives and customer needs.

Aligned with the Project Management Institute’s A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide) latest edition, this course provides a step-by-step to planning, executing and monitoring & controlling a project and combine with best practices and case study.

During class, project management theory will be combined with practical, best practices and case study workshops. Only thirty percent of class time is used to learn about methodologies, tools & techniques, and put practical skills into context.  The remaining class time will be dedicated to experience-based skills development.

  • Project Initiation: Definition of Initiating Process; Example of Project Charter; Project Definition; Stakeholder Impact Analysis; Methods for Selecting Projects; Financial Analysis of Projects; Building SMART (Specific, Measureable, Agreed upon, Realistic) objectives.
  • Project Planning: Scope planning; Work breakdown structure; Estimating; Schedule planning; Network diagram; Schedule development; Project management planning software; Cost planning; Quality planning; Responsibility matrix; Resource leveling; Communication planning; Risk planning; Procurement planning; Stakeholder planning.
  • Project Implementation: Baselines; Project plan execution; Quality assurance; Team development; Conduct procurement; Managing change; Managing and controlling communication; Managing Risk; Managing and controlling stakeholder engagement; Assessing and monitoring project performance; Earned value.
  • Project Closeout: Scope validation and customer acceptance; Contract closeout and administrative closure; Collecting lesson learned.
